March 20th - Nisqually Marine Services Course Orientation

The NMS Harvest Diver Training program is designed to meet the skill and knowledge requirements for Northwest Tribal members who have the serious desire to become a qualified commercial harvest diver in the following areas:

  • Scuba-equipment & techniques
  • Surface-Supplied Air—equipment & techniques
  • Diving safety procedures
  • Diving physics, medical aspects & physiology
  • Decompression theory
  • Rigging & working underwater
  • Diving First Aid / CPR
  • Emergency Oxygen Administration for diving accident
  • Diving Accident Mgmt. & Rescue Techniques
  • Equipment maintenance and field repairs

This specialized training is based on dive industry and government standards for commercial diving including:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration
    (Standards for commercial diving operations)
  • Washington Administrative Code
    (Standards for commercial diving operations)
  • Natl. Asociation of Underwater Instructors
    (SCUBA diving standards & policies)

This training is recognized through:

  • National Association of Underwater Instructors (Scuba)
  • Western Washington Indian Training & Employment Program (WWITEP)
  • 13 Northwest Tribes

When: Tuesday, March 20th from 3p.m. - 5p.m.
