Social Services

It is with integrity and honor that the Social Services Department of The Nisqually Indian Tribe has established a 10 year plan with emphasis on family preservation, stabilization and consistency of services, promotion of generational healing, development of client self sufficiency, and committed staff within a efficient and well structured holistic system.

We have developed a Mission, Values, and Goals Statement to define our roles as social service providers within the Nisqually Tribal Community. It will be through this structure how we manage the program. It will be our foundation and model for the department. After looking at the number of services one client can require it is paramount that we as a department provide a well rounded, uniformed and goal oriented program for each client and/or family that becomes involved with the department. We will strive for the family unit and all that it entails. Whether it be a two- parent home or a one- parent home, is all irrelevant when a child is involved. Granted every family unit is ideal when it is a two- parent foundation. Through this planned effort we want to make the commitment to the department that we as staff will do our best to help lay a positive foundation for the families we come in contact with to; develop positive skills to self-sufficiency, employable, positive and active parents in their children’s lives, alcohol & drug free, positive and active community members, assist the family unit to heal through traditional and contemporary means, and to be independent from the system.

It is with this collaborated effort of the social service staff that we will work as a team to ensure families do not fall through the cracks of any system, tribal or otherwise.
